Shattered Margot Merlot 2006A soft, dense wine with good middle lift. Black tea characters showing with a hint of blackberry. A very juicy wine. Oak has been used judiciously and is well integrated with the fruit. Winemaker: Margot Sharpe Alc 13.8%
Gentleman's Claret 2006This wine is a change from previous vintages in that I have based it much more heavily on Merlot than Cabernet Sauvignon - about 65%. Then I blended with 30% of Cab Sauv 2005 and about 10% Cab Franc 06. So the wine is a fine blend, softer up front and therefore drinking earlier than previous vintages of this wine.

Redemption Cabernet 2005A touch of Merlot 10% softens the middle palate of this wine. It has been aged for 2 years in French oak in both barriques and hogsheads. The wine allows the fruit to shine through.
Winemaker: Margot Sharpe Alc 14.2% The Battered Sauv 2005
Merlot and Cab Franc again used with the Cabernet to soften and brighten the wine. French oak, as for all our wines, was used to mature the wine for 15-24 months.

Just Franc 2006
The name says it all - this wine is a pure Cab Franc. Not much of it - our Cab Franc is primarily grown to add its sweetness to the Claret and Cabernets.

Sheepish Chardonnay 2006
Not a lot of Chardonnay this year, due mainly to the fact that the sheep were allowed to graze for too long in the vineyard! The vines loved the nitrogen though! This Chardonnay is lightly French oaked, lots of tropical fruit, with a hint of lemon and quite delicious.

Shattered Margot Merlot 2005 The rich plum colour and sumptuous nose are both indications of the delightfully satisfying mouthfeel of this wine. At 14.6% alcohol – this is no insipid cousin to bold Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Merlot has feet – and it stands on them. Minimal 220 added, as is the practice in the all our Sharpe Wines winemaking. Winemaker: Margot Sharpe Another great Merlot from our Sharpe Wines vineyard at Emu Swamp. Jack Demmery 2004 Like previous vintages of this great wine, the 04 shows its inky depths in the glass. The nose The mouthfeel is generous and fine as once again the Orange vineyard delivers on the ripeness and richness of the fruit. The winemaking saw 30% new French oak and the remainder in 1 and 2 year old French barrels. Great oak and fruit balance both supported by optimum acid levels. Minimal 220 added, as is our practice in all our Sharpe Wines winemaking. FRose 2005 Colour: A lovely deep strawberry hue is pleasing to the eye. Nose: A touch again of the strawberry on the nose. Clean and fresh. Palate: While the 2005 is dryer than previous vintages, nevertheless the same strawberry suggestion is evident. A light wine suitable for lunches and lighter meals. Good with Asian food.
Alcohol 12% (v/v) Winemaker: Margot Sharpe The FRose 2004One of our most popular wines, our Rose wine was made from a small amount of 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon grapes which were crushed and pressed off skins within a 24 hour period. Winewise magazine A very well made Merlot with clearly defined fruit flavour and beautifully ripe tannins. The oak is in balance and the finish is long and satisfying Gentleman's Claret 2003Perhaps the most popular of the 2003 range, this easy drinking style red has softened and mellowed as the year has drawn to a close. It goes well with chicken dishes and salads when the palate tires of the sweeter white wines of Summer. It's always the season for a Gentleman'sClaret. Tasting Notes: This Claret has been made in the traditional Bordeaux style using predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller amounts of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. We trod the grapes (pigeage) in the ancient method and then basket pressed at the completion of primary fermentation. Drink now or cellar for 5-10 years. Winemaker: Margot Sharpe Alcohol 12.5% Minimal amounts of sulphur dioxide added Awards: Bronze Medal NSW Small Winemakers Show 2003 The Foot Trod Cabernet Sauvignon 2003The wine from the 2003 vintage was foot trod and gentle membrane pressed after fermenting to dryness with extended carbonic maceration. It was left to mature in French oak for 12 months. The wine has been gently racked 4 times and then coarse filtered only before bottling. The rich plum colour shows excellent extraction form skins yet there are no harsh tannins evident to distract from the satisfying mouthfeel.
